What type of Fence should you choose?

1.Wood Fence

Wood fence is the most cost-efficient fencing option. Moreover, its maintenance is also very reasonable. Most of the time, you will only require a fence cleaner, water, and a scrubbing brush to keep it good as new. With proper maintenance, wood fences can last for decades.

3.Ornamental iron Fence

Ornamental iron fence is another type of residential fence that is high quality and high strength. These fences come in different designs and they also come with a baked-on powder-coated finish to make them last long and resist environmental effects.

2.PVC Fence

If you want to install a strong, flexible, and secure residential fence, then PVC fences are an option for you. PVC fences do not decay and hence are maintenance-free. These fences are easy to wash as well and you can remove the dirt with soap and water. PVC fencing lasts long and is the best alternative for wood fence.

4.Chain Link Fence

A chain link fence is a popular choice for fencing installations because of its low cost and longevity. These are aluminized and galvanized fabric fences that are coated with acrylic to protect the metal from rust. If you have a limited budget then chain link fences are best for you.

Fence Q&A

1. How deep you dig the fence holes?
Digging below the frost line prevents posts from heaving during freeze-thaw cycles, which is critical in Ottawa’s climate. we dig fence post holes to 3.5-4 feet to ensure the posts remain stable and avoid heaving in the future.
2. What happens if we hit a large rock while digging?
When we come across larger rocks, we use a jackhammer to break down and get through or we adjust the location of the hole accordingly. Each difficult hole that requires extra physical labour and material cost will incur an additional charge of $50-$100 as mentioned in the contract.
3. Can I build my fence on the property line?
A fence can only be installed directly on the property line if your neighbor agrees. If your neighbor gives approval, it’s best to have them provide a written notice of consent to avoid any future disputes.

If your neighbor does not agree to share the fence, the fence must be installed inside your property line. In this case, we recommend leaving a 6-inch gap between the fence and the property boundary to ensure proper access and avoid conflicts.
4. Do I need a permit ti build a fence in Ottawa?
No permit is needed for standard residential fences. Exception: fences for pools require a pool enclosure permit.
5. Do you offer group pricing in fencing?
Yes, we offer group or bulk pricing for clients who are completing multiple fence projects at once or coordinating fencing with neighbors. Group pricing allows you to save on materials and labor costs while maintaining the same high-quality installation. Contact us to discuss your project and see if you qualify for group or bulk pricing discounts. If your neighbor does not agree to share the fence, the fence must be installed inside your property line.
